CareEpilepsy is working to end the vicious circle of inequality, poverty and stigma that threatens the wellbeing of women with epilepsy and single mothers of children with epilepsy. Gender inequality is deeply rooted in Ethiopia and it is worse for women who live with epilepsy. One such project that aims to promote the holistic wellbeing of the most vulnerable women is CareCraft. WWE and single mothers with a CWE are less likely to work, and when they do, they make less. Our project/innovation will address the restrictive cultural norms about epilepsy, lack of skills/training and lack of access to information and networks. It tackles these barriers explicitly through gaining economic independence through training.
